SHANTINIKETAN AND ITS EDUCATION

Shantiniketan, initially known as Bhubandanga situated as a barren land of Birbhum which was owned by Maharshi Debendranath Tagore, being taken from his zamindar friend of Raipur. Later his son Rabindranath started schooling over there .as one of the earliest educators tagore’s educational model has a unique sensitivity within multiracial and multi-cultural situations.
In India, Tagore introduced a form of authentic education which he believed was more fruitfull for children growing up in rural India than conventional, deducting schooling. children’s minds are sensitive, always realising the joy of knowing this sensitive receptivity allows them to create own strong conception and sensation as well.
Tagore believed schooling never can be confined into four walls, where teaching remains always single directed. He hated the process which lead the knowledge to be fettered and imprisoned. Nature is the greatest teacher, knowledge should come from bare horizon. Tagore aimed to bring the students as closer to nature as possible. According to him education is all about exploring self-intuition by knowing the surroundings.
Tagore and his shantiniketan introduced a bare, systematic and disciplined way to educate the students. As we are floating away with the so-called education system which is completely apart from Tagore’s educational model, as being regarded with single directed lecture, memorising textbook, ditached from glimpse of nature .is it really relevant these days While contradicting with conventional others??? ......... time will get the answer.
